(ENG) On my way to San Francisco

My trip to San Francisco is approaching fast... less than a month to go!

I have already wrote about the contacts made, the people I’ll be meeting and organization I’ll be visiting (see post: "San Francisco calling")... but this is not the end of it! actually ... it’s just the beginning.

Before reaching San Francisco, I’ll spend few days in New York where the Giants will play the Mets, where I'll be going stargazing on the High Line, where I’ll meet Matthew Zachary, founder and CEO of Stupid Cancer.

Zachary, a cancer survivor, has set up a worldwide network of patients, survivors, caregivers, counselors and lawyers. Beyond raising awareness of young adult cancer, Stupid Cancer aims to ensure that all patients are aware of their rights through information, advice and online forums that reach almost 5 thousand people.

The U.S. charity has a clear strategy to spread its community: it organizes an annual oncology conference and hosts an online radio program with over 2.5 million listeners – the program was awarded the "Most Innovative Use of Social Media” by the Classy Awards.

Through these efforts, Stupid Cancer seeks to build a large community of young people and health professionals around the world.

The perfect partner for LILT Bologna!
In fact, Stupid Cancer has joined the Network against Cancer, a virtual space created by LILT Bologna where different cancer charities and organizations, based in different countries share ideas.

In addition, Stupid Cancer organizes “meetups” all over the U.S.: small groups of people (usually ill) who get together to just have fun and get busy living. These events include: informal bowling, watching movies, making dinners and parties – in other words, to get busy living, not with that stupid cancer.

Its motto? " Get busy living!"

A network against cancer
Lilt is in contact with other international cancer organizations to keep abreast of the most recent and innovative approaches in the battle against cancer.
“A network against cancer” aims to become a virtual space where different cancer charities and organizations, based in different countries share ideas. A virtual space where cancer patients, their families, survivors and anyone willing to join the battle against cancer can find information, different perspectives, insights and analysis.

From Bologna to San Francisco to fight cancer” wants to symbolize a bridge uniting us all in the fight against cancer.
“From Bologna to San Francisco…” aims to raise funds for Italian Cancer League (LILT), a charity committed, for over 90 years, to the fight against cancer and support for patients and their families.
